Several Russian regions have made COVID-19 vaccinations compulsory for specific spheres of the economy. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the Far East, was the first region to introduce this campaign, announcing a mandatory vaccination policy for not less than 70% of the population, giving priority to nationals over the age of 65. Furthermore, companies were made responsible for ensuring the vaccination of their employees.
Similar obligations subsequently followed suit and were introduced in Moscow and the broader Moscow region, Sakhalin as well as several other regions, and their number keeps growing. So far, vaccination is only mandatory for certain designated sectors (trade, transport, education, medical and social services, entertainment, eateries, etc.). Companies in these sectors should ensure the vaccination of not less than 60% of their employees. In Moscow, the deadlines are 15 July 2021 for the first dose and 15 August 2021 for the second dose; companies should submit reports confirming their progress with regard to the above-mentioned tasks as of 1 July 2021.
