Palthe Oberman partner Karol Hillebrandt participated in a panel on post-termination issues at the AIJA Labour and Immigration Law Annual Conference 2019 in Lisbon, 24-26 October 2019. The panel presented views from different jurisdictions around the world. Karol shared insights into the Dutch jurisdiction, saying that ‘in the Netherlands, non-competition clauses are common practice. In the current tight labour market, a debate has arisen about the use of such clauses to prevent employees from leaving the company and whether the company should compensate the employee for enforcing the non-compete’.
